TESTIMONIALS

I have been working with Mike Danenberg for four years. As an all pro professional quarterback, I need to make sure that I am able to be in the best physical condition and ready to play. Since I have been working with Mike, I feel better physically then I have before and if I have any unexpected kinks he is able to take care of them quickly and easily. He was also able to help my wife with a back problem that had been bothering her. For these reasons I know I can count on Mike and his unique treatment style.

I have been using the services of Performance Therapy and Mike Dannenberg weekly for over two years. Training for Ironman races is extremely tough on my body. Mike has successfully guided me back from injury with remarkable speed, and each time I’ve come back stronger. His preventative injury and core strengthening philosophy continues to help me reach new heights in my athletic aspirations.

Bottom line for me:“You’ll never know how good you can become unless you go see Mike. He is the stepping stone to the next level and beyond.”

Training for an Ironman triathlon is grueling enough, and the last thing you want to deal with are injuries during the crucial ramp up period prior to an Ironman race. For me it was my one shot at racing in the Ford Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. So I left nothing to chance when I suffered two over-use injuries during the several months of training leading up to that race. After much research and talking to other competitive triathletes who had worked with Mike at Performance Therapy, I chose to work with Mike to solve the problems I was having that was causing my injuries. Mike got right to work in identifying the injuries I had, what was causing the injuries, and put together a treatment program to address the problem areas so I would be ready for race day. The program worked and neither injury was a problem while racing in the World Championships in Hawaii in October.

There is a lot to be said about competing in a figure competition, but there is even more to say about the coaching and support you get from individuals in your life!

Having set my mind to compete in my first figure competition, I knew that in order to place and to come out on top as a champion I was going to have to devote several months of my life to training and dieting in addition to seeking out the expertise of a proven competitor. It was at this time that I met with Mike Danenberg.

Mike and I met for the first time January 22, 2005. With 3 months to competition time, we had a lot of work to do. Having always been a fitness enthusiast, I had maintained good physical conditioning year round, but to be ready for competition there were many improvements that needed to be made.

When I started training with Mike I weight 145lbs and was at 18% body fat. With a meal plan tailored to my body type and personalized weight training and cardio routine designed by Mike, I was able to achieve a competition ready physique! In addition, my weekly meetings with Mike for body fat checks and support kept me accountable for sticking to my diet and training program.

Mike shared in my excitement with me every step of the way! As my physique developed and the long hours of cardio and weight training began to pay off, my confidence in being a winner grew. I had never looked so good in my life, nor had I felt as strong as when I was working the program Mike developed for me.

Thanks to all of Mike’s support and knowledge, I was able to bring my body weight down to 130lbs and 9% body fat by competition time. After three long months of training and dieting, I had all the confidence in the world that I was going to place at competition and I did. Taking 2nd place in the tall division of the 12th Annual NPC Metrolina Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure Championships I was Nationally Qualified as a Figure Competitor!

I plan to work with Mike again in the future for other figure competitions and would highly recommend anyone with a desire to be a champion to do the same!

Thanks for everything Mike!

"When I first met Mike, I had been trying everything from home remedies to orthopedic doctors to fix some of my self induced ailments with no luck. After a complete evaluation of everything from my equipment, training schedule, and nutrition, Mike had me back on path to complete not just my then current goals, but even some I had never dreamed of. I went from being a weekend runner, to a marathoner, to a tri athlete, and eventually, an Ironman. With his help, honesty, and expertise in the areas of mind, body, and spirit, I've been able to accomplish more than I ever could have imagined. Thanks Mike."

I have been racing triathlons, running marathons and ultra marathons for 9 years.  Year long training, less then ideal flexibility and range of motion with little knowledge of physiology left me with one chronic, overuse injury after another. ITB syndrome, plantar fasciitis, knee pain and lower back issues forced me to take months off from training, have multiple rounds of steroid injections in my knees and feet and finally, bilateral arthroscopic knee surgery.  Two weeks before Ironman Florida in 2006, I developed a strain in my Soleus and couldn’t run down the street.  The day before the race, still not feeling any better, I found A.R.T.. In two 10 minute sessions I was good as new and went on to P.R.  I have had weekly A.R.T. sessions since and have remained injury free!  Mike Danenberg has kept me healthy, given me the confidence, peace of mind and knowledge to train as hard as I want, as often as I want, all year long.

Thank you Mike,

I have had lower back pain for almost sixteen years and I have tried many different types of therpaies with out any success. Mike was not only able to get rid of my pain in only one visit, but has taught me how to keep it from coming back by doing different functional exercises.

As a woman north of 45, I assumed my age, genetics, and hormones destined me to not to be able to lose weight. I always have been a gym rat, and ate relatively healthy. If I ate fast food, I would say I deserved the added pounds. Mike was the voice of challenge, “when you are done with your excuses, come and talk to me.” Partially to prove him wrong, I agreed to adhere to the program for 12 weeks. Fast-forward 8 months, Mike changed my entire body! Body fat went from 36% to 13%. Clothing size from 12 to 4. Recently, a new friend said, “Love your outfit, but hate your skinny ass. You naturally thin people drive me crazy.” I never thought I would be viewed this way. Mike has gotten me to the best shape of my entire life, with a change of habit and mindset that is easy to live with.

After living for over a half century, 51 years to be precise, I thought chronic pain would always be "my friend". The "pain" started subtly at age 19 and progressed little by little as life's stressors, good and bad alike, crept upon me until it became almost unbearable at the age of 40. The "pain" specifically was, front left mid torso to lower left abdominal, and lower and mid left back associated with sciatica extending all of the way down the left leg. As a horseback rider, jogger, and martial arts enthusiast, I had contacted many doctors and alternative care physicians to hopefully identify and alleviate the symptoms. I had no success. The diagnosis came in as anything from fribocytis to irritable bowel syndrome to endometriosis. none of which I have.) The medications included a list from muscle relaxers to antidepressants. The money spent was incalculable.

To my surprise, my farrier(who also uses Performance Therapy) referred me to Michael. I was very reluctant, but I made the call. Michael pinpointed the weakness in my body where the stress settles and within 3 to 4 visits I had experienced great relief from the "pain" that had been limiting my life for the last 10 years on a daily basis. I was really surprised. I have continued to see Michael on a regular basis and would "highly" recommend him. He is very knowledgeable and professional in his area of expertise.

Post Kona 2007 I came down with a case of Illiotibial Tract Syndrome (ITB) that pretty much sidelined me for most of the early stages of 2008. With the help of Mike and his incredible A.R.T. skills we were able to eliminate the grip this injury had on me by July. Mike not only has an exceptional knowledge base, but also has a sincere interest in your speedy recovery and in assisting you in achieving your athletic goals. I will continue to recommend him to my athletes for results come from his hands, mind, and heart.

I visited with Mike approximately 3 weeks before Ironman 70.3 Eagleman 2008. Although, I had just competed well at NCTS While Lake Half a week before, I was suffering from severe hamstring discomfort and couldn’t run at training pace for more than 3 miles, without the hamstring seizing up. During my first appointment with Mike he watched my run gait and quickly diagnosed that over striding and heavy heel striking over time had contributed to a hamstring that was both strained and weakened due to in Mike’s words “not firing” properly. Well, 3 weeks after my first visit, I not only was able to compete at full health at Eagleman, I finished 12th in my age group out of 218 competitors and didn’t have any leg/hamstring issues at all during the 13.1mile run. I later told Mike that I wished he would have been able to control the weather next time as the 96F degree temperatures and triple digit heat index made for some of the toughest race conditions possible. He told me he’d work on that as part of his expanding practice! Many thanks, Mike!

When we first met in the late spring I was embarking on my training for my first IronMan (Wisconsin). The only problem was that I was unable to run due to multiple injuries and muscular imbalance issues. You took the time to determine the cause of the problems, delivered ART and worked closely with me on everything from proper running form to stretching and nutrition.

There’s NO DOUBT in my mind that without your consistent treatments, upbeat encouragement, and patient education that I would not been able to properly prepare for and complete IronMan Wisconsin.

Mike Danenberg was recommended to me SIX years ago by a friend who had seen me suffer from debilitating migraines and TMJ for a very long time. Having been a Division I collegiate tennis player, personal trainer and all-around athlete my entire life, my body was in worse shape than I realized from old injuries, lifting weights and running. Honestly, I did not think there was anyone in the world who could fix me and my menagerie of issues! I was actually considering having invasive jaw surgery right around the time of my first appointment, and had at least two migraines a week. Now, I remain migraine-free for long periods of time; and, when I feel one creeping up, Mike can usually pinpoint the area and dissipate the problem before it starts.

There were many long-term athletic goals (such as competing in triathlons on a competitive level and completing an Ironman) that were swimming around in my head; however, I never felt healthy enough to train for long periods of time and had shoulder issues leftover from tennis that limited me in the pool. Mike changed all of that! This past summer was my first full season of triathlon culminating in Ironman Florida on November 1, 2008. It could not have gone any better for my debut, and Mike’s role was invaluable. The nature of our relationship has changed from patient/ART to athlete/ART/friend, and it is so obvious that he cares for my well-being and success in sport as well as life. Clearly, training for an Ironman is no small undertaking and the body undergoes an enormous amount of stress during all phases. Mike was there for me every step of the way in all capacities. My success reflects his dedication to keeping me healthy. Honestly, I know deep down that I would not have even “stormed the beach” that day if my friend had not introduced me to Mike Danenberg and Performance Therapy.

For that I will be forever grateful...

Running never came natural for me.  I suffered chronic shin splints and repetitive stress fractures in my lower leg.  I tried formal Physical Therapy, Ice baths, orthotics and countless hours running in the swimming pool but still I could not string together more than a few solid weeks of training without becoming injured.  Nothing seemed to work.  I stopped running all together for about three years

When I made my comeback attempt things were different.  I had help!  Performance Therapy has made the impossible seem easy.  I can go to one session with Mike and he can almost immediately tell about how many miles I have been running, how my diet has been, and even assess for proper hydration!  As a self-coached endurance athlete, I understand the importance of having a support group of people who I can trust and bounce ideas off.  Mike is a key strand in this web.  His experience and no nonsense approach makes life easy for his clients.  He employs active release technique (ART) and is able to break up adhesions in my muscles and keep the kinetic chain working properly.

This time around I’ve been able to train at a very high level, logging more than 3500 miles per year, and have performed well beyond anyone’s expectations.  I went from being the last placed guy on my team in college to winning road races now!  I’ve taken more than 3 minutes from my 5K time and even broke my College’s school record in the 8k by: 61 seconds!

I also work in the running shoe business and am in constant contact with injured runners.  I send these clients to Performance Therapy.  I sent my Wife to Performance Therapy!  You’re in good hands.

Active Release Technique has successfully treated my tennis elbow when all other treatments failed. When you are swinging a driver at 140 miles per hour, you can’t afford the inconvenience of an injury. Mike Danenberg and his staff at Performance Therapy are very friendly and extremely professional. I highly recommend them.

I have been running since the age of 15, raced in college and recently ran in 2008 Olympic Marathon Trials. I was basically injury free until 2 months post trials. It was at that point that the 140 miles per week caught up with me and my idea that I was “indestructible” was put to rest.  Running to me is like sleep; a necessity to function properly every day. When I discussed this with a client of mine, she immediately referred me to Mike Danenberg. I have been a firm believer in his services ever since.

Mike was able to correct a hamstring problem in a very short period of time to allow me to race a marathon. After that, I had a major accident on the trails in which I thought my running would be sidelined for months. Mike was again able to fix that problem with A.R.T. treatments and had me back running immediately. I then managed to have another issue in my right leg that allowed me to run no more than 4 minutes at a time without excruciating pain. Mike assured me that my running career was not over and with several treatments I could come back strong. A few weeks later I was up to an hour of running again. I can’t thank him enough for helping me through this tough year of injuries. I now know that it is important to monitor even the smallest pains and twinges in order to prevent more serious injuries in the future.

I have referred many of my teammates, friends, and even my fiancé to Mike. He has been able to help all of them get back to normal training schedules. As a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer myself, I am certain that Mike knows his stuff! He is able to describe to me exactly what he is doing and the reason for the treatment. I will continue to highly recommend his services in the future!
